Year 5

Home Learning - 26/6/2026

Hi Year 5,

We hope you're enjoying this warm weather and are staying safe. Please see some tasks below, that we would like you to have a go at! Anyone that brings their tasks into school tomorrow, will receive 5 green points each!

English

We would like you to use the word bank below to create a sun safety poster for younger children, teaching them how to stay safe in high temperatures.

Maths

As we have been learning how to add and subtract decimals, try to complete as many questions as you can, using the worksheet below.

Science

We would like you to recap previous learning of changes and conduct your own melting ice cube investigation. There are some ideas you could use below:

PE

As we are currently learning how to play rounders in our PE lessons, we would like you to create your own rounders inspired game, either using a bat and ball or a football. You could incorporate more apparatus in your game and even have multiple teams. Your task is to write up the rules of your new rounders inspired game and draw a diagram for it, just like the one below:

World Cup

Finally, seeing as England are playing tonight, we would like you to create your own England football shirt.

We hope you enjoy the sun and we will see you tomorrow!

English ✍️

In our Ready Steady Write lessons, we are preparing to write a dilemma narrative based on King Kong 🦍. We would like you to create a character description of King Kong using relative clauses and similes.

Relative clause - provides the reader additional information using a relative pronoun (who, which, that etc.).

Example:

King Kong, who captured Ann, beat his leathery chest fiercely.

(The subject, relative clause, main clause)

Simile - compares two similar subjects with each other using like or as to link these ideas together.

Example:

King Kong roared fiercely like a volcano about to erupt.
