Now we can mix within our year group, we can set for phonics. Children will be assessed every half term and grouped according to the stage they are working within. We follow the Read, Write Inc programme at Timberley Academy. Children will work their way through set 1 sounds, set 2 sounds and set 3 sounds. During our phonics lessons, we will be focusing on a sound, reading words with that sound in, as well as reading previously taught words. We will also be practising reading 'alien' words, in preparation for the Phonics Screening Check in June. 

Within the lessons, the children will also be practising their reading and write linked to a book that is matched to the children's current ability. 

There are lots of resources that can be used at home to support the children's learning in school. The children's home reading books are linked to the Read, Write Inc Phonics programme. We will regularly send home resources that can be used to support your child's learning. These are for you to keep and refer to regularly. There are some links below that you can explore.
