Timberley Academy

Year 5

PE:

Children are to come to school in their PE kits on their PE days (Tuesday and Wednesday). Please ensure children wear a white t-shirt, black or navy shorts or jogging bottoms and trainers (a black or navy sweatshirt can be worn when it is cold). Jewellery should not be worn so please ensure earrings are removed or provide plasters from home to cover them. Please remember that crop tops and football shirts are not to be worn for PE.

Homework:

Every Friday, children will have spellings to practise ready for their spelling test the following Wednesday. These spellings will be based on the spelling pattern we have learned in class that week. Children will also receive English and Maths homework, which will help consolidate the work they have done in lessons that week also.

Reading Books: Children will be given a reading book to take home. Please ensure they read daily and their home reading book and diary are in school EVERY DAY. Can you also ensure that these books are looked after please and returned to school in good condition.

Attendance

Children are encouraged to be at school every day and on time. However, if your child is unwell or is going to be absent then please call the office before 9:30 a.m. or you can email attendance@timberleyacademy.bham.sch.uk. We will have a variety of rewards for high attendance this school year including the 100 club, where the top 100 children with the highest attendance will enjoy a fun activity within school.

Get Set Go Morning Activities

Please encourage your child to come in to school every day. Doors will open for children at 8.40am.

Equipment

Please ensure your child comes to school each day with a labelled drinks bottle and lunch box (if they have a packed lunch). Children will still be provided with stationery this year so children are asked not to bring in their own equipment from home.

At Timberley, we are looking to promote healthy eating and healthy lifestyles. Therefore, if you would like to send a break-time snack in for your child, please avoid sweets, chocolate or snacks that are high in sugar. Also, for drinks, children may bring in water or squash and they are encouraged to drink throughout the day. Please do not send fizzy drinks or energy drinks.

First Aid

You will be contacted via text if your child has had a first aid incident. So please ensure all contact details are up to date so that you can be notified.
