Welcome to Reception!
A HUGE thank you to all the children that brought in their baby photographs for us to look at! The children really enjoyed our session on growing up and loved trying to guess who the babies were It really open their eyes to how much they have grown and changed!
If we can't get to the beach, the beach will come to us!
We took our shoes and socks off and had a walk in the sand! It was lovely to feel the sand between our toes Some of us even buried our feet in the sand, just like at the beach! We thought carefully about how to describe how the sand felt under our feet! We thought of words like, soft, comfy, warm, tickley, and crunchy!
Once we had written our descriptive words down, we made them into flip flops for our Literacy board!
We loved watching the England game on Thursday! We waved our flags, that we made, while the National Anthem was on! It was great fun cheering on the team and cheering when we scored!
Have you seen all the rain we have had this week? We watched the rain come down and listened to the thunder storm! We counted in between the thunder and lighting and put a bucket outside to see how much rain water we could collect!!!
We had such a fantastic day celebrating the Queen's 90th Birthday. We all got dressed up in red, white and blue or Princess, Prince, Queen or King costumes! We had Big tuck, which was really yummy! Then after dinner, we had a disco and party food on the field.
But, the day got even better when we had a special visit from the Queen herself! Her Corgi's came too
The children loved making crowns to wear and flags to wave!
Have a look at the photographs below, to see what fun we had!
Last week we visited the Life Caravan! It was great fun! We learnt all about the Human body and what it does. We also learnt how best to stay healthy and look after our bodies We also met Harold the Giraffe, he was super friendly! Take a look at the photographs!
Our current topic in Reception is 'Plants and growing'. The children completed a knowledge harvest, telling us what they already knew about plants and what they wanted to know.
The children asked questions like, "how do seeds grow? How do plants drink the water? Why are some plants and flowers different colours?"
So, we have been busy growing seeds! RL have planted beans and sunflowers. While RC and RH have sown cress seeds and special rocket seeds, some of which have been up in space!!!
The children have also been busy labelling the parts of a plant! We have learnt all about the roots, stem, leaves and petals
Take a look at the photographs of us hard at work!
We have received an email telling us, one of our balloons travelled all the way to Norton Lindsey, in Warwick! We were all really impressed with how far it had travelled. We showed the children a map of England, pointing out Birmingham and then Norton Lindsey, so they could see how far it had travelled!!

If you see the balloons anywhere, we have written the instructions on the balloons so you can get in touch and tell us where you found it :)
Well done to all the children that came to school every single day last term! They were rewarded with a day of fun and games. Take a look at the photos....
We had a fantastic day, raising money for Sport Relief!
The children did really well, walking 1 mile (That's 8 times around the KS1 playground!!!!). Check out the photographs of us walking around the playground!

We had a great time in Reception celebrating World Book Day! We had Teachers from different classes come and read a story to us, we had Big Tuck AND we got to dress up as our favourite character! During Literacy week, we focussed on the author Martin Waddell, who wrote story books such as, Owl Babies, Can't you sleep little bear, Farmer Duck and loads more! We absolutely loved the stories and learnt the meaning of the words 'author' and 'illustrator'. Here's a few photographs for you to look at....
Well done to all the Reception children who had 100% attendance and were rewarded with the fantastic attendance day! It was great to see everyone having so much fun. It is so important to come to school everyday and it's even better when you're rewarded for it
A big thank you to all the parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles who came to our Inspire workshops! It was great to see so many of you here
Take a look at some of the photographs we took on the day. Can you see yourself?
Welcome back! We hope you have all had a lovely break and the children are ready to start a new half term.
Our project in Reception this half term is ‘Food and Shopping’. The children will be learning all about money and will have the opportunity to pretend to buy things from our supermarket and clothes shop role play areas. We will be looking closely at healthy food choices through the story of the Hungry Caterpillar. We will be uploading lots of fantastic photographs, of all our activities on the website, so please be sure to take a look!
P.E for RL now takes place on Monday mornings. P.E takes place on Tuesday mornings for RC and RH. Could you please ensure that children have their P.E. kit, shorts, t-shirt and pumps, in school and clearly labelled with their names to avoid loss. It is important that children have their P.E kits in school on Mondays and Tuesdays. We advise that P.E. bags are left in school and children can take them home on a Friday if they wish. Small stud earrings are the only item of jewellery allowed in school, however, earrings must be taken out for P.E. and hair must be tied back. All uniform, coats and bags should be clearly labelled with your child’s name, as we have had several items of clothing lost.

Our project for this half term is, 'All about me'! The children will be talking about themselves and their families, whilst getting to know each other!
Watch this space for photographs of us having lots of fun and learning new things!!
