It was lovely 🥰 to see all the support for our Sports Morning 🏃🏽🏃🏻‍♀️on Thursday. Well done 👏🏻 to all for tolerating the heat! It was a hot 🥵 one. The children were amazing 🤩 and all did very well for their first KS2 Sports Morning. Thank you 😊 for your support.

☀️Friday 17th June 2022☀️

What a wonderful week we have had in Year 3! We have also had some beautiful 😍 weather ☀️. On Thursday, children and staff had a great Jubilee Day. There are a few photos below 👇. We created class memory jars 🫙 for the children to look 👀 back on when they come to the end of their Timberley journey. Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a lovely 🥰 half-term break. It has been lovely seeing all of the children back in school 🏫. 
 

This week was Local Area Week. As part of this week, we interviewed Mrs Harris to find out how school 🏫 has changed over the years. Thank you 🙏 Mrs Harris for your time. There are a couple of photos below ⬇️.

Next week is Jubilee Week 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 and we have lots of activities planned. On Thursday 16th June it is our Street Party 🎉 Day. Children can come to school dressed in red, white or blue, 1950s style or Royal 👸🏾attire! 
 

3R are a very happy 😃 class because they won 🥇 the Walking Around School Trophy 🏆 for the SECOND time! Well done 👏🏻 3R! A photo is above ⬆️ and with all the decorations, you can tell how happy they are 🎉🥳🎊🏆.

This week, Mr Griffiths lead our investigation 🕵🏼‍♂️🔎 in the Phiz Lab 🥼. We wanted to find out how the stem transports nutrients so we did an investigation 🔎🌷. We will observe closely over the week to see the results.

Friday 13th, unlucky for some but not 3N because they won the Walking Around School Trophy 🏆- well done 👏🏻 3N!

Welcome back to a brand new term in Year 3 - Summer 😎 Term! It has been lovely ☺️ seeing all of the children back in school 🏫, ready to learn.

It has been another busy week in Year 3 (as usual) and children have all worked super hard. Children enjoyed another lesson with Alex from AVFC and they are getting really good 👍🏻 at Coding now. Wow! What a busy first week back we have had in Year 3 - it has been fantastic 😁!

For 10 weeks, Year 3 are very lucky 🍀 to have a specialist STEM teacher 👨 from AVFC deliver our ICT Coding Unit. Children had a wonderful first lesson on Monday and we are looking forward to more lessons with Alex. There are some photos below ⬇️.

Another week over already! Children have worked hard this week and we are so proud 🥲 of them! Only one week to go until they can have a well deserved rest. 
 

On Tuesday 1st March we will be having our Theme Day to kickstart our new Project, Gateways to the World ✈️ 🧑‍✈️. Next week, we will add some more information ℹ️ about the day.

Children have completed ✅ some fantastic learning tasks, this week. 
 

In Project, we explored gears ⚙️ and tried hard to follow the instructions using K’Nex. Children also made their own magnetic 🧲 board game! They did so well 👏🏻 - take a look 👀 at the photos below 👇. 
 

We have now finished ☑️ our Maths 🧮 Unit on Money 💷. To complete ✔️ the Unit, children demonstrated their understanding by shopping 🛒! They were provided with a range of price lists and they created their own shopping lists 📝. They were then asked to ‘play shop’ and buy the items, adding and subtracting the money. 
 

Well done 👍🏻 to all of the Year 3 children for such a super week of learning!

It’s been another busy 🐝 week in Year 3! Children continue to work hard 😓 and they have completed ✅ some great 👍🏻 learning tasks. 
 

In Maths 🧮, we have started our new unit on Money 💷 - children have shown they are super at counting pounds (£) and pence (p). In PSHE, we discussed bullying and the different types of bullying. Children then worked with a partner to talk about different scenarios and decide whether the scenarios gave examples of teasing or bullying. 
 

Next week, we will add some photos of children’s wonderful 🥰 work!

Another week over already! Children have completed ☑️ some wonderful learning this week. 
 

In Project, we investigated how different surfaces affect the distance a toy car 🚗 will travel down a ramp. We also investigated 🕵🏼‍♂️ magnetic 🧲 and non-magnetic materials. Year 3 have enjoyed being scientists 👨🏽‍🔬 this week!

In Maths 🧮, we have started to learn about division with remainders. We used lolly sticks to make squares and triangles (groups of 4 and 3) and we could see how many lolly sticks were left (remainders).

Children have had another fantastic week in school 🏫. In Maths 🧮, children have been learning to multiply and divide a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number. We have also completed ☑️ our Entry Point and Knowledge Harvest for our new Project-Material World 🌎. Children have been sent home 🏠 with this Project’s Knowledge Map 🗺, this is for your reference and a copy is below ⬇️.

Happy New Year to you all 😀! We hope you all well. It has been lovely 🥰 welcoming the Year 3 children back to school 🏫. They have settled back into the routine and are enjoying their learning. 
 

Can we please remind you that for morning break, children should bring to school a healthy snack. This could be fruit 🍌🍎, yogurt, breakfast bars etc. We kindly ask that you do not send your child in with crisps or chocolate 🍫 bars. All children are provided with free bagels 🥯 when they come into school 🏫. Just to remind you, Year 3 have their lunch 🥗 at 11.45am.  
 

Next week, children will take part in the Entry Point for this half-term’s Project - Material World!

⛄️This week, we are dedicating our update to ‘The Snowman’ ❄️. For our visual literacy unit, Year 3 enjoyed a range of learning tasks based on the 1982 classic film ‘The Snowman’ ⛄️. 
 

On Monday, children watched the film 🎥 and designed their own snowman ⛄️. On Tuesday, children explored the theme of the story and role played the character James, thinking 💭 about how his feelings change throughout the film 🎞. On Wednesday, children planned their own story, based on ‘The Snowman’ ☃️. On Thursday, children started to write ✍️ their story.  Today, most children finished ✅ their super stories!

Another busy week is over already! Year 3 have worked so hard this week and we are proud 🥲 of them all. 
 

Some of our children represented Timberley at a dodgeball 🏀 competition. They showed honesty and respect ✊🏻 during the games and were a credit to you. They came second 🏅 overall and they received their certificates and medals 🏅 in Thursday’s assembly. Well done 👍🏻.

Children in a Literacy and Language group, have completed ☑️ their fantasy story set in space 🚀 🌏 and they have written some super stories! In Maths, children have moved on to the White Rose Addition and Subtraction unit of work. 

In Project 🎨, children used pointillism to recreate Van Gogh’s Sunflowers 🌻 and they made their own colour wheels! 
 

In Spanish 🇪🇸, children learnt to ask ‘What is your name?’ and answer the question 🙋 ‘My name is…’ 🇪🇸

Wow 🤩! Another week is over already! Children have had a wonderful week in school 🏫 and they have all been working so hard 😊. 
 

Year 3 homework 💻 this week is 10 minutes reading 📖 a day and there are Purple Mash tasks set: a Place Value task and a Spelling/Phonics task so please log on and complete the learning set. These tasks support the learning in school 🏫. From next week, we will be sending home 🏠 a paper 📝 based homework task. This will be either literacy 📚 or maths 🧮 based and we will alternate each week. 
 

Today, children enjoyed a special science 🧪 assembly. We will upload photos of this next week so please keep an eye 👁 out! 
 

PE 🤸‍♀️ is on Mondays so please make sure children attend school 🏫 in their PE kit, hair is tied back and earrings are out. Thank you 😊.

We would just like to say how proud we are of all of the children in Year 3 🥰. Most children have settled well into their new classes and they have enjoyed their learning this week. 
We have completed our first week of Maths 🧮 lessons and children are enjoying our Place Value unit; working with hundreds, tens and ones. 
Children are in groups for their English lessons and are either in a Literacy and Language group or a Phonics group - this is to make sure children are receiving the right level of learning. 👍🏻
Our Entry Point for our new Project took place this afternoon - we will add photos of our exciting 😀 first week of learning 🔜 so please keep checking our page 📄. 

Year 3’s PE day is Monday. Children should come to school in their PE kit.

This week’s homework 📚 is daily reading and two learning tasks set on Purple Mash - a place value 2do and a spelling 2do. Children were sent home 🏠 with their log in details today.

Hi 👋🏻 Year 3,

We are really looking forward to seeing you all on Monday - we hope you are as excited 😆 as we are! Doors will be open from 8.40am, should you wish to take part in a range of educational morning activities. 
 

Our school 🏫 day begins at 8.55am so please be on time ⏰.
 

Children are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack to eat at morning break. As children are now in Key Stage 2, free fruit is no longer provided so please bring your own healthy snack🍎 🍌 🍇. 

Children should also bring in their own drinks bottle that is clearly labelled - no fizzy drinks or energy drinks please.
