This week, Year 3 are feeling very Christmassy 🎅🏽. The class and school decorations 🎄are up and the class Elves 🧝🏽 have landed! 


Children are all working super hard still and have completed ☑️ some wonderful work. Take a look 👀 below ⬇️ to see some pictures from this week. 

Thank you 🙏🏼 for all of your kind donations of chocolate 🍫 today, for our school 🏫 chocolate 🍫 tombola.

Another busy week is over already! Year 3 have worked so hard this week and we are proud 🥲 of them all. 

Some of our children represented Timberley at a dodgeball 🏀 competition. They showed honesty and respect ✊🏻 during the games and were a credit to you. They came second 🏅 overall and they received their certificates and medals 🏅 in Thursday’s assembly. Well done 👍🏻.


Next week, we will add some photographs 📸 of children’s wonderful work.

Children have been very busy learning this week and they have completed ☑️ some fantastic work! 

In Project, our volcanoes 🌋 were finally ready to erupt! Keep an eye 👁 on our class page 📄 as we will upload some photos 📸 and a short video clip 🎥 of the eruption, next week.


Today marks the end of Anti-Bullying Week and children enjoyed a session, taking part in some Children in Need activities 🥰!

Paper homework has been sent home 🏠 today and we have also resent children’s email 📧 log in details. Online learning is accessible through BGfL and you can find this by logging in, should you need to learn from home 🏡.

Welcome back to everyone! It has been lovely ☺️ to see all the children back in school after the half-term break. We hope you are all ready for what is going to be a very busy half-term! 😅


This week in school, children started their new Spanish 🇪🇸 Unit, took part in our Entry Point for our new Project ‘Active Planet’ 🌍🌋🌪and children in a Literacy and Language group started their new unit ‘Sand Wizards’ 🧙🏽 and much more.

Paper homework 📄 this week is adding two 3-digit numbers (crossing 10 or 100) and a comprehension task, either a Sunflowers 🌻 reading task or a Rosa Parks 🧑🏾‍⚕️ reading task.

WOW 🤩! We can’t believe it’s the end of the first half-term already. Year 3 children have all been amazing 🥰 and a credit to you. They have worked super hard and settled into KS2 so well. We are all so very proud 🥲 of them.


There is a TTRS 👨🏾‍🎤🧑🏻‍🎤👩🏽‍🎤 battle set - may the best Year 3 class win 🥇! The winning 🏆 class will be rewarded next half-term.

This week’s paper 📝 homework 📄 is a reading comprehension task and an addition and subtraction task. As always, there is a Purple Mash 2do and we encourage 10 minutes of reading 📖 a day. Remember, 2 Dojo Points are awarded to the children who complete ☑️ the homework 📄 set!

This week in Year 3️⃣, children have completed ✅ some wonderful work!

Children in a Literacy and Language group, have completed ☑️ their fantasy story set in space 🚀 🌏 and they have written some super stories! In Maths, children have moved on to the White Rose Addition and Subtraction unit of work. 


In Project 🎨, children used pointillism to recreate Van Gogh’s Sunflowers 🌻 and they made their own colour wheels! 

In Spanish 🇪🇸, children learnt to ask ‘What is your name?’ and answer the question 🙋 ‘My name is…’ 🇪🇸

This week’s homework 📄:

Miss Russell’s and Miss Merriman’s Literacy group - Verb Tenses 2 and a Maths 🧮 task.

Mrs Newton’s Literacy Group - Capital Letters for Names and a Maths 🧮 task.

Mrs Newton’s Literacy group have a capital letters and full stops task and an end of unit (Place Value) task. 
We also encourage at least 10 minutes of reading 📖 each day.

Wow 🤩! Another week is over already! Children have had a wonderful week in school 🏫 and they have all been working so hard 😊. 

Year 3 homework 💻 this week is 10 minutes reading 📖 a day and there are Purple Mash tasks set: a Place Value task and a Spelling/Phonics task so please log on and complete the learning set. These tasks support the learning in school 🏫. From next week, we will be sending home 🏠 a paper 📝 based homework task. This will be either literacy 📚 or maths 🧮 based and we will alternate each week. 

Today, children enjoyed a special science 🧪 assembly. We will upload photos of this next week so please keep an eye 👁 out! 

PE 🤸‍♀️ is on Mondays so please make sure children attend school 🏫 in their PE kit, hair is tied back and earrings are out. Thank you 😊. 

Finally, please can we remind you that children should not bring anything extra into school 🏫, this includes toys/bears. Thank you 😊.

🌟This Week’s Learning🌟

🌈Friday 10th September 2021🌈

We would just like to say how proud we are of all of the children in Year 3 🥰. Most children have settled well into their new classes and they have enjoyed their learning this week. 
We have completed our first week of Maths 🧮 lessons and children are enjoying our Place Value unit; working with hundreds, tens and ones. 
Children are in groups for their English lessons and are either in a Literacy and Language group or a Phonics group - this is to make sure children are receiving the right level of learning. 👍🏻
Our Entry Point for our new Project took place this afternoon - we will add photos of our exciting 😀 first week of learning 🔜 so please keep checking our page 📄. 


Year 3’s PE day is Monday. Children should come to school in their PE kit.


This week’s homework 📚 is daily reading and two learning tasks set on Purple Mash - a place value 2do and a spelling 2do. Children were sent home 🏠 with their log in details today.

Hi 👋🏻 Year 3,


We are really looking forward to seeing you all on Monday - we hope you are as excited 😆 as we are! Doors will be open from 8.40am, should you wish to take part in a range of educational morning activities. 

Our school 🏫 day begins at 8.55am so please be on time ⏰.

Children are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack to eat at morning break. As children are now in Key Stage 2, free fruit is no longer provided so please bring your own healthy snack🍎 🍌 🍇. 


Children should also bring in their own drinks bottle that is clearly labelled - no fizzy drinks or energy drinks please. 

More information ℹ️ will follow about our PE day and learning for this half-term so keep an eye 👁 on our class page.
