Supporting your child's reading at home

There are lots of ways that you can support your child's reading progress at home. Reading can take place in lots of different ways- reading recipes, magazines, road signs etc.

Whilst you are reading with your child, there are also lots of questions you can ask to support their comprehension progress. Take a look at the follow document:

Any questions about this, feel free to ask!

Year 1 Phonics Screening Check

As you will be aware, the children in Year 1 will be sitting their Phonics Screening Check in June of this year. This year it will take place during the week beginning Monday 6th June 2022. Please ensure your child is in school throughout the whole of this week.

This section of our class page is to provide you with information on what the Screening Check entails, how it will be completed and what this means for your child.

As always, if you have any questions on how we teach phonics, what your child is learning or what you can do to help, we are always here to help.

E-Library

As part of The National Literacy Trust, we have been given access to an E-Library.

Children have been assigned logins, that we have sent home, to enable them to access over 100 quality online books.

To access the E-Library, please click on the link below which will take you directly to the login screen.

Happy reading!

Important Information

The children have settled well into Year 1 life and we are so proud of them for this. There are just a few pieces of information that we would to remind you of!

PE

PE will be on a Friday. Children should wear black shorts or tracksuit bottoms, a white t shirt and black jacket/jumper.

Drinks

All children should bring their own drink into school, in a named bottled. This should be water or squash- not fizzy drinks.

Allergies

We would like to remind you that we are a nut-free school. If your child is bringing in a packed lunch or a snack, please ensure that this does not contain nuts.
