Timberley Academy

Year 1

Here are the photos from our Super Sports Day! The children had a wonderful time and enjoyed every single minute of it! Well done, Tigers!

Check out some of the photos from the Zebras Sports Day. We all had a blast and tried hard with every race or activity.

This half term Year 1 have started a new Project called 'Live and Let Live'. For this Project we get to explore different animals, including humans. For a piece of homework, we asked the children to create their very own farm scene, including some animals you might see on the farm. Check them out below. We are so proud of them all. You have done amazing!

Welcome back! Finally we are able to be back together again on Monday and we are all so looking forward to it. We (Mrs Collins, Mrs Newton, Miss Morris, Mrs Adams, Mrs Lindsey, Mrs Fox, Miss Lindsey and Mrs Male) can not wait to see your smiling faces as you walk through the door on Monday. You have all been amazing over the past few week and we can't wait to tell you how proud of you we all are. In case you haven't seen, there is a letter about the reopening of school. Please check out the letter below and hopefully it will answer any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you, and see you Monday! :D
Today, in Year 1, we celebrated World Book Day. Children were invited to a special World Book Day Teams meeting where we could show off our favourite book and dress up as our favourite characters. The children also had lots of World Book Day activities to complete on the Year 1 Sway page. The children loved seeing each other and telling each other about their story. We also got some fabulous pictures of the children in their costumes. Check them out below :D

Look at all our super learning that is happening at home! A big well done to Jessica, Ella, Milan and Mira for sending some lovely photos of their learning :)

At Timberley Academy  we use Read Write Inc to help teach our Phonics lessons.  Here is some useful information to help you with how this is taught.

We just want to say a massive Happy New Year to everybody. This was not how any of us imagined starting the new term, but hopefully it will help to reduce the spread of the virus.

We hope that the children will be able to continue their learning journey at home, using the online resources we have available. Your child was sent home with these passwords in September and most children will have the j2e login stuck in their home reading diaries. We know that some of you may have put these in a ‘safe’ place so if you want a copy please email us:

l.newton@timberleyacademy.bham.sch.uk (Meerkats)

k.collins@timberleyacademy.bham.sch.uk (Tigers)

V.morris@timberleyacademy.bham.sch.uk (Zebras)

Children we can’t wait to see you all again and listen to what you have been up to. Please stay safe and listen to your adults.

YEAR 1 SNACKS

If you are sending your child into school with a snack, please could you ensure it is a healthy snack (fruit/yoghurt).

If you are sending grapes, please ensure that they are cut into quarters. This is for health and safety reasons, as the children eat them on the playground during their playtime.

Thank you.

The Year 1 Team

Hello, Year 1!

We are so excited to welcome you all to your new classes on Thursday! 😊  We have been working hard to make sure everything is ready for you!

We cannot wait to hear all about your adventures whilst you have been at home. Some things in school will be a little different, but we know you are going to love it! 😍

Please click on the icon for your class to see your new classroom, your teachers and where you will come into school. 🏫

Can we just remind parents that all children will need to bring a drink into school with them. 🥤 The water bottles will need to be clearly labelled and washed each night. 🧽  Book bags are not necessary at the moment. 📚 We will let you know when we are ready for these. 👍🏼

Over the next couple of days, we would really appreciate you talking to your children about the changes in school and reminding them which staff will be in their classrooms. 💬

Have a wonderful couple of days and we will see you soon! 😊

Mrs Adams, Mrs Collins, Mrs Fox, Miss Lindsey, Mrs Lindsey, Mrs Male, Miss Morris and Mrs Newton 🥰
