Beach Day
Reception children have had a fantastic beach day. We have played in the sand, "paddled" in the water, tried to see who could make the biggest bubble and played games with our friends. Then, we had some surprise visitors... donkeys!! So every child got to have a ride on a donkey. At lunch time, we had fish and chips for lunch and then an ice cream for pudding. Such a lovely last day in Reception making memories with our friends.
Our Super Sports Day
A big thank you to the grown ups who joined us today for Sports Day. We are so proud of the children who all took part and joined in with great enthusiasm. Well done Reception !
Jubilee
We have really enjoyed learning about and celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this week. Some of the activities we have been doing include a treasure hunt around the farm, sharing stories about the Queen, painting a portrait of The Queen and making crown biscuits.
Hello Spring
What a beautiful day it has been today, Reception decided to take advantage and go on a Spring hunt to see what signs of spring we could find. We found blossom, buds, flowers, daffodils and even birds sitting in their nests. We have attached a Spring hunt for you to enjoy at home, see what you can find on a walk this weekend.
Red Nose Day
On Red Nose Day, we got to dress up as a superhero, someone we admire or dress in red. We took part in activities throughout the day including an inter-house sport competition. We were so proud of how hard the children tried.
World Book Day
The children have had a lovely day today. They have shared stories with their friends, had a special treat from the Story Cafe, listened to stories read by special visitors and also acted out the story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears using Now Press Play.
Reception have loved our Dinosaur topic. They have been involved in so many different dinosaur activities including a dinosaur hunt, creating lost posters, making dinosaur fossils and making traps for the dinosaurs.
We have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have learnt about The Year of the Tiger and how people celebrate Chinese New Year. We took part in lots of different activities and we even got to taste some yummy chinese food.
Animals
Our topic this half term is Dinosaurs and Animals. We have been learning about different types of animals. We have explored Polar animals, Jungle animals and Farm animals. We took a trip to the school farm to feed the animals, melted ice to save the polar animals and created our own jungle animal pictures.

It would be lovely if you could send in a copy of a photograph of you and your family so that we can share them with each other. This can also be done electronically via reception@timberleyacademy.bham.sch.uk
We will send a reading book and a reading diary home with your child for you to share and enjoy together. Please ensure that you have signed and dated the diary whenever you have heard your child read. There is a space for you to write a comment if you wish to. Please make sure you return your book on a Monday and we will send a new book home on a Thursday (unfortunately we will not be able to send a new book home if you haven’t returned it).
Our PE day is a Thursday. Please send your child to school in their PE kit. Please ensure that they wear a white round neck t-shirt, black shorts and trainers. They will also need black/navy jogging bottoms and a black/navy warm top for PE during the colder weather. Please do not send your child in any other sports clothes, including football tops.
Water bottles will need to be brought to school each day filled with water (no fizzy or energy drinks). Fruit is provided for the children during snack time each day so the children will not need to bring in their own snack, however, if you would like to send in a piece of fruit for your child each day please feel free to do so. Please ensure all uniform, coats and water bottles are clearly named.
Just a reminder that children will need to be in school before 9.00 and collected at 3.25.
We can't wait to see you!
