Here on our clas page you'll find our termly newsletters and class information! Keep a look out on twitter to see some of the wonderful things we do in Year 1
In Year 1 children will continue with daily phonics lessons, to support them with their reading. In June 2025 the Year 1 children will have the Phonics Screening check. This checks the children's ability to decode real and nonsense words. Over the year we will be sending home resources to help you support your child with their reading. However, daily reading of their home reading books is a simple, yet effective way of improving your child's reading. The children's home reading books need to be in school everyday, as we make time to listen to the children read each week.
In the Spring Term we will be having a Phonics Showcase, were you will be invited in to watch your child being taught in their phonics groups. We will send more information about this closer to the time.
If you have any questions about supporting your child with their reading, please speak to your child's class teacher.
Happy Reading!
We're looking forward to seeing how creative the children can get with their homework project. If you would like any advice or have any questions regarding the homework project for this half term, please see your child's class teacher
Please ensure children come to school in correct PE kit, with earrings removed and hair tied back.
Please ensure your child brings their book to school each day as we have allocated reading times during the day. If you have any questions about your child's reading, please speak to the class teacher.
In June 2025 the children will have to take part in a Phonics Screening Check. This check requires the children to read 40 words, both real and nonsense words. We will be sending out information throughout the year on the Phonics Screening Check. If you have any questions about this please see the class teacher.
