It’s now been 4 weeks since lockdown 🔒 was announced AND there’s at least another 3 weeks to go! We can do it! 👍🏾 We are saving lives by staying home, 🏠 it might not feel that way but we are! 🥰

Happy Friday! Although, this is definitely an unusual ‘last day of the term’ Friday. 😕 We can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks already! We are sending you all lots of love 💖 at this difficult time. 
 

We hope that you are in a settled routine and you are all making the right choices at home. Use this time to talk  and listen 👂🏻 , laugh 😂 , dance 💃🏼 🕺🏿 and make memories with your loved ones! Usually, there’s never enough time so make the most of it! 
 

Well done 👏🏽 to all of you that are working hard at home and completing the online learning that is set for you! We are checking every day 🧐

Good morning Year 2! 
Today’s the last day for this weeks TTRS Battle! We’ll update you on the winners at the end of today! 
We’ve set a range of Literacy, Maths and Science activities on Education City, Purple Mash and Mathletics, for today! A huge well done to the children that have completed this weeks activities! 
If you’re having trouble accessing Education City, it appears to be working more efficiently on Google Chrome, rather than Safari or Internet Explorer.

We are aware of the issues some of you may be having accessing the activities we are setting online, due to the current high demand. Here are some activities you can do at home without needing to use the internet

Writing activities

Keep a daily diary of the activities you are doing each day

Write a story about one of your favourite toys

Write a review on your favourite film

Reading activities

How many common exception words can you find in your home reader book?

Retell/act out your favourite story using your toys

Maths activities

Make your own Maths quiz for your grown ups to complete

How old are the people in your home? Practise adding and subtracting the ages of everyone in your home (You could use Lego or bricks for tens and ones to help you!)

Science/Art activities

Spare shoe box? Make a habitat in the box (Desert, Rainforest, Garden etc)

Recycling objects? Junk model the building you live in

Old socks? Make some sock puppets, decorate them and use them to help you retell your favourite story

Make an Easter card for someone special

Have you made a rainbow? Some children in the area are making and placing rainbows in their windows. If you got for a walk, it's great to see the amount of rainbows in the windows. It'll make you smile!

School Closure!

Hi Everyone!

Miss Russell, Mrs Cambridge and Miss Browne here! We really hope you are all well and enjoying the activities we are setting for you. Each day there will be a new set of activities on Education City, Purple Mash and Mathletics! There will be a range of English, Maths and Science activities for you to have a go at.

Also, there will be weekly battles between the classes on TTRS! So that's:

2B vs 2C

2C vs 2R

2R vs 2B

At the end of each week we will post the winners of the battles, so get playing to earn your class lots of points!

Don't forget to try and read your home reader books for 10 minutes each day! Your school closure packs also have lots of literacy and maths activities for you to complete.

Each day on the Read, Write Inc YouTube channel, they are showing a Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 speed sound lesson, which is available to watch for 24 hours. The Oxford Owl website have lots of free eBooks for children to read! Also, White Rose Maths are holding online Maths Parties on their website too! This week, the Body Coach- Joe Wicks is showing a daily PE lesson starting at 9am. Join in and get your body moving!

We miss you all very much, but it is important we keep ourselves, our families and our friends safe!

Pupil of the Day

In Year 2, children are chosen daily to be 'Pupil of the Day'. Children are given compliments by their friends and by an adult of their choice. We send home two copies of their compliments; one for you to keep at home and one for you to complete at home and return to school.

Welcome to Year 2!

The children have all settled really well in their new classes. They are all looking so smart in the school uniform and they are enjoying school life.

Homework is set on a Friday and needs to be completed for the following Friday. Please read the weekly newsletter, on the website, to check what homework has been set.

PE is also on a Friday, please make sure children have their PE kits in school and earrings are out.
