Timberley Academy

Year 1

Thursday 25th June 2026

Well done if you have managed to complete the activities so far. 😊

Today we are thinking about the days of the week. Can you write down each day and something that you like to do on those days. What do you do on Monday? What do you do on Saturday? What day comes after Thursday?

In History we have been talking about famous explorers and their achievements. Have a think about somewhere you would like to visit and explore. Where would you go? How would you travel there? What would you take with you? You might want to visit the moon like Neil Armstrong. If you went to the moon who would you go with, what would you pack in your bag and why?

Have a lovely afternoon and we will see you all back in school tomorrow for a fabulous Friday morning! 😊

Wednesday 24th June 2026

We hope you are all continuing to stay safe in this warm weather 😊 Well done to the children who completed yesterday’s activities! We will be changing reading books regularly this week to ensure children have a new book to read at home during the afternoons.

In Maths today we have been looking at months of the year. Can you have a go at writing down events or celebrations that happen in certain months of the year?

In Art, we are continuing to explore primary and secondary colours. Please see the colour word search to see if you can find all the colours. If you could also complete a Colour Poster, identifying the primary and secondary colours we would love to display these in the classroom.

In Computing, we have been exploring the BeeBots.

On this website https://beebot.terrapinlogo.com/ you can navigate the Beebot to spell out different words. See if you can direct the Beebot to spell your name, the day of the week and month of the year 😊

We would love to see any work the children complete at home in the afternoons this week 😊

Tuesday 23rd June 2026

We hope you are all staying safe in this very warm weather! We have some activities for you to complete whilst you are staying cool at home! yes

In Maths we are thinking about time. We would like you to use the vocabulary, 'before', 'after', 'first', 'next' and 'finally'. Can you think about all the things that you do in the morning and draw a timetable to explain your routine or talk about your routines to a grown up. What do you do first, what do you do after, what do you do next, what do you do before that and what do you do finally? Then think about your afternoon and your evening.

First I wake up, after that I have a shower, next I get dressed...

In Science this week we are thinking about animal shelters, could you collect some natural materials and see if you can make a shelter to keep a small plastic animal safe, comfortable and shaded from the sunshine. What will your shelter look like? If you are able to make a shelter we would love to see a photograph of this. If you can't make a shelter do not worry, you could draw a picture of what your shelter would look like, label it and think about what materials you would use.

Stay cool, drink lots of water and we'll see you all tomorrow. smiley

Snow Day

Friday 9th January 2026

We'd love to see some pictures of you all enjoying the snow this morning!

Snow is a fantastic resource! We can play in it and learn lots from it!

Building a snowman is a great way of working our core skills like we do in OTTO club! Rolling and squeezing the the snow helps to work our smaller muscles in our hand and is a great fine motor skill activity.

You could write some instructions on how to build a snowman, using your super neat handwriting.

If you need to warm up inside there's only 1 phonics sound we can do today, it has to be:

ow - blow the snow!

Here's the video link:

We hope you have a happy and safe snow day! :)

School Closure - Wednesday 7th January 2026

We will be giving out lots of green points to the children who complete today's work and bring in any work to show us when we're back in school! :)

Phonics

Have a go at watching and joining in with these Set 3 sound videos - can you have a go at spelling some of the words containing Set 3 sounds?
