Snow day - 8/1/2026

Happy Snow Day Everyone.

Firstly, I hope you are all enjoying playing in the snow. There are a variety of activities listed below which focus on areas of learning we will be looking at over the next half term. Please have a look through and see if there are any that you might like to do and then share with your class once back in school.

Other activities you could complete include;

1) Get outside! Can you build a snowman or a snow animal? Snap a picture of any creations you make and share in with us on X, using @timberleysch! We'd love to see!

2) Can you draw a winter, snow scene picture? What details can you see around you? What could you include?

3) Could you write a story or a poem set in the snow? Is your character going on a journey? How are they going to face the challenges of the snow?

Lastly, please enjoy your day in the snow but do so safely. Ensure you are with an adult at all times and wrap up warm.

Activities for 7/1/26

Good Morning Year 3, Good Morning everyone!

Whilst school is being fixed as quickly as possible, we have got some awesome activities for you to be having a go at, at home!

Choose from the list below, or work your way through the whole list, it's up to you!

Science

Our topic for science this half term is Rocks and soils. The three main types of rocks are

igneous, formed from cooled magma/lava; sedimentary, made from compressed layers of sediment; and metamorphic, created when other rocks are changed by heat and pressure!

Have a look at this video below to find out more information!

Can you make a poster about one of three rock types? Maybe you could go on your very own rock hunt in the garden or park! Can you work out which rock group they belong to?

Maths

In Maths, over the last few weeks, we have been learning all about multiplication and division.

It's really important in Year 3 that we know or 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables as these will help us with all the problems we will come across in our lessons. If you are unsure of any of these problems, head over to Times Table Rockstars and have a go! (Your teacher will also be able to see if you've been on and given you green points!)

If you are more confident with these, give the activity sheets above a go! You don't need to print them, just find some scrap paper and notes down your answers, don't forget to show your working out!

Geography

This half term, we will be learning about volcanoes!  And wondering, why some people even choose to live near them?! Would you like to live near a volcano? Can you complete one of the following tasks about volcanoes?

1) Write a letter to your teacher convincing them why they should or shouldn't buy a house near a volcano.

2) Research one of the following famous volcanoes, what amazing facts can you find out about them? Vesuvius, Mount Fuji or Mount Etna

3) Can you draw and label a picture of a volcano? Where is the lava? Have you drawn a vent? What is a magma chamber? How to volcanoes erupt?

Here are plenty more fun and educational sites for you to access to continue your learning from home, take a look!
