Internet Safety

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you may have seen on the news, there is a new trend named the ‘Momo Challenge’ spreading across the internet and social media. It consists of a horrifying character which appears on YouTube, Fortnite, and many other platforms your children may be using to play games or watch videos.

The doll haunts children to add a contact on messaging service WhatsApp, then hounds them with violent images and dares. We are aware that MOMO requesting children to add a number into their phones is also used as a hacking technique, used to steal personal information.

Parents/Carers are encouraged to talk to their children about internet safety and monitor what content your children are accessing. It has been reported that Momo will appear midway through a streamed episode of Peppa Pig and other child friendly shows, games or videos. We advise you all to be vigilant.

A downloadable guide offering further guidance and advice on dealing with this matter, can be found on the 'National Online Safety' website:

It is extremely important that you are all made aware of these online challenges, to help limit the chance of your children being targeted.

Thank you for your co-operation.
