Science Week

This week we have being doing a lot of science work as part of Science Week.  We have continued to learn about teeth as part of our Science unit but we have also been undertaking a lot of work on our Science Week topic of Our Body.

To help us learn more about our teeth we constructed a model.  We used different sized beans to represent the different teeth (incisors, canines, pre-molars and molars).  This really helped us when we wrote a report about teeth in Literacy.  We also carried out an investigation into the effects of different liquids on our teeth.  We used egg shells, which have a high calcium content like teeth, and submerged them in milk, water, orange juice and cola.  They were left for a week before we examined the egg to see if anything had happened to the egg.  The results were very interesting.  What do you think happened?  Check back later for the results...

When we researched into the topic of Our body, we learned about the different bones in a human body by creating a skeleton then locating and naming the different bones.  We also carried out an investigation in to the effects of exercise on heart rate.  We found our pulse and measure it before we exercised, after a warm up, after intense exercise and after a cool down.  We proved that our heart rate does increase during exercise.  Why do you think this happens?

Phew!  What a busy week!
