Real Life Maths

Every half term the children have the opportunity to apply their math skills to real life problems. They use their knowledge to work together practically finding solutions.

Autumn Half Term 1
Well done to Mrs Mayne's Maths class who were set the challenge of creating a cake product to sell at the Tuck Shop to raise money for Macmillan Cancer research.

The challenge saw the children find fractions of ingredients to create an accurate shopping list, total up the cost of ingredients, accurately measure ingredients to make their product, work out the individual cake price and how much profit each cake would make, before finally working out the total amount of profit their group made.
All of our cakes were a sell out, especially our chocolate cakes! Through their brilliant Maths work the children raised an amazing £33.94 (after paying for their ingredients!). Well done!!
