All children that are allocated a place in the Timberley Academy Resource Base for physical difficulties and medical conditions have an EHC plan in accordance with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
The children are directed to the Timberley Academy Resource Base via the Local Authority Special Educational Needs Assessment and Review Team (SENAR) rather than through the school’s usual admission procedures.
Visits to Timberley Academy can be made on an individual basis either with the school’s SENDCo or Head of Resource Base – contact the office on 0121 464 2002
Although all children in the resource base will have their physical difficulty or medical need as their primary need, as outlined in their EHCP, some children may also experience varying additional needs in the areas of speech, language and communication, specific learning difficulty i.e. dyslexia, mild sensory impairments and social and emotional development.
All children in the resource base access specialist PE lessons once a week in the sports hall.
We have a Physio Assistant, employed by the school, who liaises with the community Physiotherapist to ensure all children are able to access physio as required in school.
Timberley has a purpose built physio room so children are able to follow their physio programme discreetly.
Timberley Academy Resource Base has 5 personal care rooms allowing children to have their intimate care needs met.
